It invites the public to observe these works both as historical documents and as images created from the ideas and values of their time.<\/p>\n<p>Through collage and sewing activities, participants are invited to change these images and create new stories using them. The aim is to question traditional ways of presenting Brazilian history and open up space for other readings and interpretations.<\/p>\n<p>The following topics will be covered during the workshop:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The European view of 19th-century Brazil<\/li>\n<li>The relationship between images, power, and history.<\/li>\n<li>What appeared and what was left out in Debret&#039;s images<\/li>\n<li>Different ways of telling a story through images.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This activity is part of the educational programs for the temporary exhibition. <em><strong>Debret in Question \u2013 Contemporary Perspectives<\/strong><\/em>, which proposes a dialogue between Debret&#039;s engravings and critical reinterpretations by 20 contemporary artists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dates and times:<\/strong> February 14th (Saturday) and March 1st (Sunday), at 2 PM<br \/>\n<strong>Duration:<\/strong> approximately 1 hour<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Temporary Exhibition Room \u2013 Garden Level<br \/>\n<strong>Meeting point:<\/strong> Temporary Exhibition Room \u2013 Garden Level<br \/>\n<strong>Job openings:<\/strong> 15 people per session<br \/>\n<strong>Participation:<\/strong> In-person registration, 10 minutes before the start of the activity, at the venue.<br \/>\n<strong>Free activity<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A oficina O avesso de Debret: costurando e colando novas narrativas prop\u00f5e pensar sobre as imagens produzidas por Jean-Baptiste Debret no s\u00e9culo 19.
