Classes will be held in person on Tuesdays, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, in the Museum Auditorium.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Aimed at university-educated individuals, the course proposes to understand how the dialogue between maps, texts, and other historical sources can contribute to the reconstruction of processes of occupation and transformation of Brazilian territory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Based on case studies, different possibilities for historical research will be presented, combining cartography, travelogues, archival documents, images, and other sources.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The program covers topics such as:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The occupation of the Brazilian coast and the formation of the hereditary captaincies.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Expeditions and processes of territorial expansion\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Exploration and occupation of the Amazon<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Cartography of Dutch Brazil<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Monsoon routes<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Historic routes between S\u00e3o Paulo, Santos, Itu and Minas Gerais.<\/span><\/span><p>\u00a0<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The classes also present methodologies used to identify and reconstruct ancient routes by comparing maps and historical documents.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Among the studies analyzed are the routes from S\u00e3o Paulo to Santos and accounts related to Independence, Fern\u00e3o Dias&#039; journey towards Minas Gerais, and the relationships between historical documentation, oral tradition, literature, and the construction of memory.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a total workload of <\/span><b>40 hours<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the course offers <\/span><b>200 vacancies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, filled in order of registration. The fee is <\/span><b>R$50<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
