Between September 23rd and 25th, the Ipiranga Museum will hold the online workshop “Collections on stage: emancipatory perspectives, practices, and viewpoints.”. The event will bring together experts from different institutions to reflect on the formation, treatment, and communication of collections in the private and public sectors.
Throughout the sessions, participants will be invited to reflect on the relationships between collections and different conceptions of History, the impacts of the political and ethical shift on collecting and curatorial practices, the historical narratives constructed by exhibitions and educational materials, and emancipatory perspectives based on practices such as meta-curation, co-creation, revision of acquisition policies, and broadening the concept of collection. The workshop also aims to stimulate analytical and creative practices based on collections, contributing to the continuing education of professionals, researchers, and educators.
In addition to the discussions, the program includes asynchronous practical activities, which will be presented at the first meeting and developed with guidance from the instructors.
The initiative is promoted by the university extension project and science communication blog. “"Exporvisões: affective perspectives on museums, heritage, and related topics"”, from the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at UERJ and the Paulista Museum at USP, which for seven years has been promoting training workshops aimed at diverse audiences, articulating scientific dissemination, professional training, knowledge, affections and practices in different territories.
