Digital transformation is changing the way institutions produce, organize, preserve, and share knowledge, posing new challenges for the field of museums as well.
To broaden this discussion, the Ipiranga Museum will hold an event on October 14th. Symposium on Digital Collections: Management, Preservation and Dissemination. The event brings together professionals from museums, archives, libraries, universities, and other cultural institutions to discuss the challenges of managing, preserving, and disseminating collections and documents in digital environments.
The Symposium takes place at a time of expansion of the digital infrastructure of the Museu Paulista. The institution will have the Center for Digitization and Intelligent Treatment of Collections (CDTIC), a structure funded by FAPESP that will bring together equipment, software and artificial intelligence to digitize, process and expand online access to the collections.
Among the initiatives is the creation of a repository integrated with Tainacan Processes, Software developed to support the management and preservation of the institution's curatorial processes.
In this context, the Symposium brings together experts to discuss experiences related to digital repositories, the treatment and preservation of born-digital documents and collections, and platforms aimed at the public dissemination of collections and knowledge.
Participation in the event is free, and registration can be done by September 21st to October 4th, via form. If demand exceeds the number of available places, tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the venue. Results and confirmation of participation will be sent by email after registration closes.

She holds a doctorate and master's degree in Information Science and a bachelor's degree in Library Science from the University of Brasília (UnB). She works as an Information, Culture and Sports Analyst at the Municipal Secretariat of Culture of São Paulo, with activities at the Mário de Andrade Library.
Dalton Lopes Martins
Professor in the Library Science course and the Postgraduate Program in Information Science at the University of Brasília (UnB). He holds a PhD in Information Science from ECA-USP and coordinates the Tainacan project, open-source software focused on building digital repositories.
Diego da Silva Pereira
Professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN) and coordinator of the NOCS Lab – Multi-User Research Laboratory in Networks and Computer Systems. He works on research and innovation projects with an emphasis on digital transformation, systems development, and modernization of institutional processes.

Lecturer in the Library Science and Information Science course at FESP-SP. Holds a doctorate and master's degree in Information Science from ECA-USP, and was coordinator of the Library and Documentation and Research Center of the Pinacoteca de São Paulo.
John Maria Araújo do Nascimento
Computer Engineer, with a master's and doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UFRN. Professor at IFRN, he works in the areas of programming, systems development, and computer networks, and is involved in research and technological development projects at NOCS Lab.
Juliana Monteiro
A museologist from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), specializing in Public Management and holding a master's degree in Information Science from ECA-USP. She works in the area of collection and documentation management in museums and currently coordinates the Observatory of the São Paulo State Museum System (SISEM-SP).
Lilian Miranda Bezerra
Master's degree in Social History, Bachelor's degree and teaching qualification in History from the University of São Paulo. Currently, she is the Head of the Technical Section of the General Archive of USP and works on topics related to Archival Science and the management and processing of archives.
Luciana Martins
A historian with a doctorate in Education and a master's degree in Education and Museology from the University of São Paulo, she is the coordinator of Education and Cultural Action at SESI Lab and works on projects in museology, museum education, collection management, and the use of information and communication technologies.
Marcos Sigismundo
Holding a doctorate and master's degree in Information Science from the University of Brasília (UnB), he is the Information Technology Coordinator at the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram). He works in the development and implementation of information environments and in digital preservation initiatives.
Marcelo Thadeu Quintanilha Martins
He holds a doctorate and bachelor's degree in History from the University of São Paulo, with specializations in Social History and Archival Science. He is an employee of the Public Archives of the State of São Paulo (APESP), where he worked on the preparation of inventories, catalogs, and research tools, and was the technical director of the Permanent Collection Center.
Natalia Marinho do Nascimento
Professor in the Department and Graduate Program in Information Science at Unesp, in Marília. She holds a doctorate and master's degree in Information Science and a bachelor's degree in Archival Studies. She is the president of the Permanent Commission for Digital Preservation at Unesp.
Solange Ferraz de Lima
Professor at the Museu Paulista of USP and coordinator of the project funded by FAPESP that foresees the expansion of digitization and processing activities of collections and the creation of a repository for the Institutional Archive. She is the proponent of the Symposium on Digital Management of Curatorial Processes.
Tatiana Vasconcelos
With a Master's degree in Museology, she works in the documentation area of the Museu Paulista and is a member of the Digital Strategies Working Group. She develops projects related to data and metadata curation, with experience in Tainacan.
