On September 7th, the Ipiranga Museum will hold another event. Museum in Celebration: The institution's biggest event of the year, which has been held since 2017.

The free program, conceived in partnership with Sesc, includes musical performances by DJ Hum and CORALUSP, as well as theatrical and circus acts, outdoor workshops, free admission to the Museum, and guided tours of the exhibitions.

Throughout the day, the public will also have access to various accessibility resources, such as sign language interpretation, audio description, sensory backpacks, alternative communication boards, and a comfortable and adjustable space. There will also be a hydration station, provided by Sabesp, the institution's sponsor.

The event is sponsored by Shell, the museum's sponsor, and supported by the Catavento Museum, the Municipal Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industry, the Municipal Secretariat of Tourism; and has institutional partnership with the Municipal Secretariat of Green Areas and Environment of the City of São Paulo.

Esplanade 
  • 10 AM — Wake up! A street theatre performance, aimed at children and families, that transforms the museum's facade into a stage and invites the public to participate in the performance. 
  • 11:30 AM — Body in Motion: Afro-Corporeal Experiments A dance class based on how the Black body expresses its existence, knowledge, and memories. 
  • 1:30 PM — STREET. A circus performance using recycled objects, blending magic and balancing acts in a set made from scrap materials. 
  • 2:30 PM — Extraordinary Ball of Figures A theatrical musical ball with masks, giant puppets, and live music inspired by folk traditions. 
  • 5 PM — Dance party with DJ Hum Festive closing on the terrace, with sets of black music, hip hop, reggae, jazz, 80s boogie and samba rock.
Garden 
  • 10 AM to 5 PM — Queue Quiz An educational activity in the form of an interactive quiz, conducted by educators to engage the public while they wait to enter the exhibitions. 
  • 10:30 AM / 1:30 PM — Poetic Emergencies Office Two alchemists prescribe "poetic doses" of poems, songs, and narratives to alleviate the audience's afflictions. 
  • 3:30 PM — Capoeira Musical Gathering Performance combines spoken word poetry with capoeira and Brazilian rhythms. 
Thinking Space 
  • 11am — CORALUSP A choral performance featuring a repertoire of popular songs, concluding with audience participation. 
  • 1 PM — Afro-Brazilian Choral Singing for Senior Citizens A choir formed by senior citizens who attend the Social Work program. with Elderly People from Sesc Ipiranga.The activity revives chants of African and Afro-Brazilian origin. 
  • 2:30 PM — Dance! Brazilian Rhythms A dance class that celebrates Brazilian rhythms and Black influences, encouraging body expression and a sense of belonging. 
Nazareth Terrace 
  • 10am to 5pm — Go by Itinerary Guided tours of Independence Park and its gardens in partnership with the Department of Tourism. 
  • 10am to 5pm — Did I look good in the photo? A photography studio that utilizes historical objects from the educational collection. pto reflect on the stories represented in Museum. 
  • 10am to 5pm — Games and Educational Experiences Games and educational materials related to the Museum's collection for all ages. 
  • 10am / 11am / 1:20pm / 2:20pm / 3:20pm / 4:20pm — Adinkras Workshop at the Catavento Museum on African Adinkra symbols, with hands-on creation of prints. 
  • 11am / 12pm — Skin Colors: portraits in oil pastel An artistic experience that reflects on representations of the Black figure in art. 
  • 11am / 12pm — Extraordinary Animals A playful collage and drawing workshop to create hybrid and fantastical animals. 
  • 11am / 12pm / 1pm / 2pm / 3pm — Watercolor Bookmarks Watercolor activity inspired by the trees of Ipiranga, transforming observation into art. 
  • 11am / 1pm / 2pm / 3pm — Screen printing (mind) A workshop on screen printing on dish towels, addressing coexistence and the anti-psychiatric struggle. 
  • 11am to 5pm — Game Experiences: Sankofa Arcade Trilogy An experience with Afrofuturist games that intertwine the past, present, and future of Black women. 
  • 12pm / 1pm — Curuminices Ceramic embroidery workshop for children and their guardians. 
  • 2:30 PM / 3:30 PM — Decolonial drawing techniques A workshop exploring alternative ways of drawing human bodies, outside the Western tradition. 
  • 2:30 PM / 3:30 PM — Unusual City – its surrealist art Creative activity using collage, photography, and origami to reinvent the city. 
Xavier Terrace 
  • 10am to 5pm — Community Area An interactive space with games and circus techniques to stimulate creativity and coordination. 
  • 10 a.m. — Black presence on the (not so placid) banks of the Ipiranga River Guided tour revisiting the history of the neighborhood from the perspective of the Black Movement and the Black Press. Meeting point: Xavier Terrace 
  • 2 PM — Trees of Ipiranga An investigative experience to learn about the tree species of the forest, their ecological functions, and stories connected to the territory. Meeting point: Xavier Terrace. 
Museum 
  • 9am to 6pm — Free admission to the exhibitions A History of Brazil; Imagined Pasts; Understanding the Museum. Last entry at 5 PM. 
  • 9am to 5pm — Guided tour of the exhibitions “Understanding the Museum” and “A History of Brazil” Educators present the history of the monument-building and the workings of the Paulista Museum. 
  • 9am to 5pm — Discussion about the painting Independence or Death! Mediation with the Education team about the painting of Pedro Américo. 
  • 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM — Sign language interpretation session about the painting "Independence or Death". Sign language mediation with the Education team about the painting of Pedro Américo. 

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes, bringing a water bottle, wearing a cap or hat to protect yourself from the sun, and bringing sarongs or towels to relax on in the park.
