Between September and November, the Museu Paulista of USP (University of São Paulo) will hold an online course. “"Studies in Visual Culture: Images and Circuits"”, aimed at researchers and undergraduate and graduate students interested in Visual Culture studies.
This training program presents theoretical and methodological frameworks for the analysis and interpretation of images, considering not only their content and formal aspects, but also the contexts of production, circulation, appropriation, and consumption. The approach articulates contributions from History, Art History, and Anthropology to understand images as part of social, cultural, and political practices.
Among the topics discussed are photography, the press, landscape, colonialism, violence, image banks, and representations of the body. Coordinated by Professor Dr. Solange Ferraz de Lima, the classes will start with case studies presented by invited researchers.
