On Saturday, August 8th, at 2 PM, the Ipiranga Museum invites the public to a discussion and the launch of the exhibition catalog. “"Liberdade: a plural neighborhood"”.
The publication brings together reflections that delve into different aspects of the history and transformations of the Liberdade neighborhood. During the event, the curators and authors Paulo Garcez Marins, Mônica Raisa Schpun, Aline Montenegro Magalhães, Francisco Andrade, and David Ribeiro will share some of the themes developed in the catalog with the public.
Moderated by Monique Felix Borin, the conversation will address the formation and territoriality of the Liberdade neighborhood, with Francisco Andrade; the persecution of the Japanese community during World War II, with Mônica Schpun; the processes of touristification of the neighborhood and the erasure of its plurality, with Paulo Garcez Marins; and the Black memories and Afro-diasporic issues present in the territory, with Aline Montenegro Magalhães and David Ribeiro. The event will also feature a performance by the Casa de Portugal Folkloric Group.
Following the discussion, there will be an autograph session with the curators. Each participant will receive a free copy of the catalog and will also be able to participate in a special tour of the exhibition. “"Liberdade: a plural neighborhood"”.
