The guided tour "City of São Paulo: Formation and Transformation" invites the public to learn about the history of São Paulo through the exhibitions at the Ipiranga Museum. The tour shows how the city emerged, grew, and changed over time.

During the tour, the visit connects the past and the present. The stories surrounding the founding of the city and how São Paulo came to see and be represented are discussed. Social inequalities and the differences between the city's regions, which have existed since the past and continue today, are also addressed.

Works of art and old documents help tell this story. The visit begins with the founding of the village of São Paulo de Piratininga and continues until the city becomes a large metropolis. Along the way, conflicts with indigenous peoples, slavery, the arrival of immigrants, and the displacement of people within the country are discussed. The changes in the city caused by industrialization and modernization projects are also presented.

The visit also shows how these changes affected people's lives. Topics such as the separation between rich and poor areas, the emergence of the peripheries, and factory work are discussed. The relationship between the home, industrial work, and domestic work helps to understand these processes.

In the end, the visit encourages reflection. Who told the city's story? Which groups had the most space in these narratives? Which ones were left out? The guided tour also discusses the role of the Museu Paulista in preserving and interpreting the history of São Paulo.

On Sunday, the Ipiranga Museum will also host DJ Bia Bless for the Sampa Dance, celebrating the Black presence in the city of São Paulo in yet another Music in the Museum.
