Ipiranga Museum

Quatro mulheres idosas seguram trabalhos artísticos produzidos em oficina durante uma edição anterior do curso “Construindo memória em um museu de história”, no Museu do Ipiranga

Building memory in a history museum.

The course Building memory in a history museum. The course invites people aged 60 and over to experience encounters, exchanges, and conviviality at the Ipiranga Museum. Over four sessions, the course combines guided visits to the Museum's exhibitions with practical workshops.

The activities encourage participants to connect the stories presented in the exhibitions with their own experiences, memories, and life trajectories. Memory is treated as a living process, constructed in the dialogue between past and present.

During the visits, the group tours exhibitions such as Worlds of Work, Imagined Pasts e Homes and Things. These routes address themes such as work, ways of life, ideas about the past, domestic life, everyday objects, and the ways in which society constructs and preserves memories.

After each visit, there will be a hands-on workshop in the Museum's Atelier. These activities propose creative actions that encourage conversation, the sharing of experiences, and the collective construction of meaning.

The course also values intergenerational interaction and promotes active aging, recognizing the memories of the participants as an important part of historical experience.
